God’s Plans and Not Ours

This past weekend was one of the best of all time. I can’t ever remember such a wonderful group of mentors and campers that just needed to be there.

Last week was just one of those weeks that everything fell through. The usual camp preacher had things going on so we lined up someone to fill in and they ended up having something unavoidable come up so he had to reschedule. We didn’t get our number of campers coming until late, and trying to find last minute mentors is always a challenge. It just seemed like everything was working against the weekend. And to tell the truth, during this busy season I know a lot of us feel that way. Things just seem to crowd in at this time of year, and circumstances change in the blink of an eye. You know, in the middle of the worst circumstances we have to remember to just trust and obey, because we know God has a purpose and a plan.

So we made phone calls and mentors came. It was absolutely amazing the weekend we had. We ended up with 5 girls and 5 boys, not counting our own kids. The messages were split up by board members and mentors, but the theme ran pretty close to Trust and Obey. The kids all had a great time. We saw plenty of deer just not many bucks. We ended the weekend with one buck and one boar hog. There were three people that decided to follow Christ this weekend at camp, and that my friends is what it’s all about.

You know trusting and obeying is pretty hard some days. To trust and obey in the good times is easy. When everything is going well and we aren’t crowded with worries and strife. But when life is falling apart, well that’s when it can seem impossible not to want to figure it out. There are times in our life, we just don’t understand why things are happening to us or in the situations around us. But one thing we can cling to, the One who holds the Future, can be the One holding your hand. All you have to do is reach out and believe. You see Matthew 11: 28 – 30 says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Find your rest and comfort in the one who created you. The one who knit you together in your mother’s womb knows your innermost thoughts and anxieties. He knows all that you have done and been through, and He loves you just the same.

So today, I urge you to reach out and take His hand. In the middle of your struggles and the mess of your situation He is standing with open arms, hoping to give you comfort and peace in your time of need.

We love you and are praying for you, and if you need anything just let us know.

Love in Christ,
