So the weekend of January 7th was wonderful. Yeah, I know I’m super late on posts, but being in the middle of season life seemed pretty hectic. Now back to the weekend. We had a family group come out of South Mississippi and South Alabama, and it’s always one of our favorite weekends. We ended up with about 18 kids for the weekend and lots of fun.
A couple of the kids were new comers and several were happy to come back again. We started off the weekend with the message actually being a testimony from Michael Smith about how God had changed his life. Saturday started bright and early with a nice hunt and a couple of kills. We came in for breakfast and a message from Bro John. We hung around camp for the rest of the day happy the storms that were supposed to hit never came, and by mid afternoon we were all headed back to the stands. We didn’t have much luck that afternoon but saw a lot of deer. We came on in and had supper and a message from Bro. John on what it means to be born again. It was a great night with a ton of fellowship. We finally finished the night out, and a few hours later it was time to get up for our final hunt. Sunday morning was our final hunt and we had another harvest, although we did have to call the dogs in. Our final message was a testimony by one of our board members, Clay Dyess about his life as a Christian. We ended the weekend with several deer down and a lot of happy kids. We saw lives changed and couldn’t wait to see what else God had in store for the season.
This weekend we had a lot of testimony, which is always amazing. You see we all have a different story to tell. We are all unique and go through so many different things at different times in our lives. I think the most important thing we learned this weekend, is that no matter what our lives look like, we all need Jesus. You see some of us have lived pretty rough lives, we were raised in houses that God wasn’t first in anyone’s life, and that started our journey into not being worried about anyone but ourselves. Some of us grew up in church, we grew up to think of others. But the last message really brought home to all of us, whether you are a horrible person or a good ole boy, you need Jesus. You see there are no levels of sin, we all have sinned and fallen short. And Christ came to save us all from that sin. He came to pay the penalty for our sin and exchange it for the gift of eternal life. Have you accepted that gift. Have you laid everything else down and taken up the cross of Jesus? Have you decided to trust in Him. Because He is calling to you, just where you are. He loves you and wants to spend eternity with you. We pray you have already made the decision to follow Him, but if you haven’t there is no better time than right now.
If you need to talk, or know someone that needs the ministry let us know.
Thanks and God Bless,
Briar Ridge
